Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Plans: Galaxy S5, LG G3, Note 4, Moto X, HTC One M8, Droid Turbo, Xperia Z3
Android 5.0 Lollipop update is getting released to more devices every week and today we’re going to give you the latest information from the major Android manufacturers. This let’s us have all of the latest Lollipop update details all in one easy to read post.
HTC
We’ll start off this progress report with HTC and some allegedly leaked information from a private press event that was held in London. If true, this means both the HTC One M7 and the HTC One M8 will be updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop sometime around January 3rd. Recent leaks have also brought us the three screenshots that we see above. This gives us a look at what Sense 6.0 will look like on the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update that HTC is getting ready to release.
Samsung
There hasn’t been much action from Samsung lately. We know that they have sent the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update out to Poland and then to South Korea as well. From the preview videos that SamMobile has been posting, we know that Lollipop update is headed to the Note 4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4. There’s been some carrier Galaxy S5 Lollipop update builds leaked but again, none of this information is new and we’re anxiously awaiting Samsung’s Lollipop release is some of the bigger markets like Europe and the US.
Motorola
We also haven’t heard much from Motorola either. They were working hard to get their devices updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop but it looks like they have switched gears and are currently working on 5.0.1 Lollipop instead. There are reports that both the 2013 Moto G and the 2014 Moto G are getting Android 5.0.1 Lollipop in various regions across the world. We’re still waiting for a full rollout for the 2013 Moto X, 2014 Moto X, 2014 Moto G, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, Droid Mini, 4G Moto G and the Droid Turbo.
LG
LG, much like Samsung, initially sent out their LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Poland and South Korea but they are currently focusing on Europe. We’ve seen reports from multiple carriers and in multiple countries across Europe. We’re also seeing some progress in India too as multiple people in India with an LG G3 have reportedly been getting their Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
Sony
The last Android OEM that we wanted to talk about in this Lollipop update progress report is Sony. They haven’t done much to make any progress though. We know which devices will be updated(Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, and the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact) but we haven’t seen anything released other than barebones AOSP builds for a select few. Sony has told us that they will start their Lollipop updates in early 2015 though so at least we have that to look forward to.
As you can see, there just isn’t that much new information to talk about with Lollipop update. Android 5.0.2 has been released for the 2012 Nexus 7 but we haven’t seen any indication about whether or not it will branch out to other devices yet. This is most likely due to the fact it is the holiday season and some people have been taking off work in order to spend time with your family. As always, when we hear new information about Lollipop updates we will be sure to keep you informed.
